Sometimes I take pictures...

I was in the midst of applying for internships (ugh just no) and one of the applications asked for a supplementary portfolio of any photography work I had ever done.  Of course, I blanked and was like...

So I started going through some old photographs that I had taken to see if there were any worth submitting.  I even went through Instagram... shameful, I know.  But I actually found some pretty cool pictures, and a few that were just pretty.  I figured I hadn't made a blog post in a while so I thought I'd share these pictures with the interwebs.

Expect more photos because I'm taking two photography classes with a friend this semester, so we're going to be those really annoying people taking pictures of EVERYTHING.

And of course, my baby Bruno.  Taken this Christmas.

Christmas Blog Challenge: Day Five

BEST GIFT YOU'VE EVER RECEIVED

I would have to say that I was the swing set that I got when I was about five or six.

My parents built it with the help of our neighbors down the street (we're actually still close with them!).  They hid the swing set in the neighbor's backyard until Christmas Eve.  After my brother and I had gone to bed, my parents and grandpa snuck out of the house while my grandma stayed behind to keep an eye on us.

My parents, grandpa, and the neighbor couple had to carry the swing set down the street.  It had snowed, melted, and then frozen over.  So everyone was slipping and sliding down the street while carrying the swing set over their heads.
(Imagine something like this, but with another swing for babies)

The next morning I woke up, gathered my family at the top of our stairs, and we collectively went down to the living room.  We ooh'ed and ahh'ed over our stockings.  As the eldest child, I had the responsibility of reading Santa's reply to our letter that we always left with the milk and cookies.  In his reply, he said to look into the backyard for our big surprise.  So my brother and I rushed to the throw open the curtains and sitting in the freshly fallen snow was our beautiful swing set.

We ran outside barefoot in our pajamas to play on it and got yelled at by my mom.

It was still the best gift I've ever gotten.

Christmas Blog Challenge: Day Three

WHEN/HOW DID YOU LEARN SANTA WASN'T REAL?

MY PARENTS TOLD ME

When I was in fifth grade, I still believed in Santa.  I don't think it was still the belief that a fat old man built all my Christmas presents at the North Pole, then shimmied down my NON-EXISTENT chimney.  I believed in the magic of Santa.  Basically, I didn't want to believe that my parents were the masterminds behind everything.

Around Christmas time, when I was about ten, I started getting teased at school because I told someone that I still believed in Santa.  I got into actual fights with people over this.  Deep down, I knew that he wasn't real.  I didn't want to give those kids the satisfaction of being right.  I didn't come home crying because I was upset.  I came home crying, because I got in trouble for punching my peers on the playground for calling me a baby.

My parents told me that Santa wasn't real so that I would stop bruising the other children.  But I had to continue to fake it for my younger brother.

Christmas was forever ruined.  It has never been the same since then.

A boyfriend

Essie nail polish

That's pretty much it.  I really don't want a lot for Christmas.  Santa really can't put a career or an affordable apartment post-graduation into my stocking, so.....

Christmas Blog Challenge: Day One

YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE

This is a really tough one.

But I have to say that my all-time favorite Christmas movie is "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"

Of all the Christmas movies that my family watches during the holiday season, this one has to be our favorite.  Every Christmas Eve, this is our traditional ending to the night.  We all get ready for bed and snuggle up on the couches to watch this before we go to bed.  It is one of the most quotable Christmas movies (after "Elf" of course) and we just love it.  It's a classic in our house and I love it.

WHY IS THE CARPET ALL WET, TODD?
I DON'T KNOW, MARGO!

ALTERNATES:
The Holiday
Veggie Tales: The Toy That Saved Christmas

IT IS HAPPENING! DUN DUN DUN!

Okay, so I realize that it says 2012 on the picture, but it's the best I could do!

LET'S GET FESTIVE, REINDUDES!
No? Okay, yeah I tried to be funny and it didn't really work.  I'll remember that next time.
